Steppin' Stones consists of ladies from both congregations who desire to be the
stepping stones between college students and their church family. Its goal
is to keep young adults connected to the church, to remind them that they are not
forgotten and to encourage them during stressful times, like final exams. The
committee maintains this connection through birthday & holiday cards, e-mails, "care"
packages full of snacks & homemade cookies, gift cards for gas & food, etc.
The financial support of both Mt. Zion & Barnitz enables this ministry to care for
the college students of both congregations between 18 & 25 years of age.

At the beginning of each school year, a bulletin board is placed in both churches
with students pictures & personal information (mailing address, e-mail address,
birthdate, etc.). This provides the church family with the information necessary
to correspond with students through the U.S. mail, e-mail and prayer.

At the end of the school year, a picnic is held for all current college students &
families as well as the high school graduates that will become part of the Steppin'
Stones group in August. This allows the committee members & the college students,
both current & future, to meet & fellowship.
